This shows the finished deck. The main decking area was built such that the finished height is flush with existing doorsteps, with a slight fall away from the house for drainage. There is also a slight gap between the deck planking and the house walls to prevent any possibility of damp ingress. Because the garage is at a higher level, a step was necessary. This was built square to the garage wall but at an angle to the main deck.
The finished deck from a different angle. As with all decks I build, the front faces are clad with decking timber to hide the framing beneath.
This shows the framing, more or less completed. As usual, the frame was built from pressure treated, stress graded timber, joined with stainless steel screws for long term durability.
Although the property has security lights, small Led “pin point” lighting was incorporated in all the front faces of the decking and step. Always difficult to capture the effect on camera.
